This is a great tool for hackers who are just beginning. It has a lot of references and makes things very easy to understand. Definitely on the lookout for more from him.
The book gives a basic overview. The book name is too loud.
This thin book tries to describe everything: social engineering, DDoS, phreaking, TCP/IP, TOR, password cracking, virtual machines, WiFi cracking. Because there is so much crammed in so little book everything has just a little paragraph and nothing is covered in depth. It is a haphazard collection of topics that do not learn the reader to practically hack anything. Furthermore, it is missing some essential information. It does not even mention XSS, CSRF, OWASP, hashcat or Nessus. There is a link to Burp, but that’s the only mention to it. I found this book to be chaotic, incomplete, dull and superficial.
Disclosure: I got asked by the author to write a review and received a free copy to read through, however this is my honest opinion.This book is short, although the author seems to be knowledgeable on the subject he is writing about, and I would classify this as a brief introduction to the topics without going deep into them, it is a nice start for people interested in getting into hacking and information security, the author gives his recommendations on countermeasures against social engineering and such.It is a good starting point where you can get a brief overview of some terms, some types of vulnerabilities and social engineering, that you can go out and find other more in dept resources on the topics you're interested in.The author writes in a concise way, it is easy to understand what is being conveyed, so thumbs up for me, but don't expect to learn anything on a deep level, this is a high level overview.
Really good information while somewhat specific it was more broad than deep. I great introduced to the subject matter. I would have given it 4 stars had it gotten deeper into the how's of pen testing. I.E. a walk through from contract to report.
This book offers a decent introduction to the world of penetration testing. It covers a lot of basic information about the what and why, but very little to none about how.
I purchased this book to further my knowledge on programming, cyber security and staying safe online. Although this book is not huge in length, I actually liked that as it meant I was not overwhelmed with too much information.I found that googling was VERY overwhelming which is why I decided to purchase this book instead. The author gives great insight into hacking, safety and tools to use and I appreciate this book immensely as I have now achieved a higher level of understanding hacking.
